Ruth M. Weh
FOUNDER
This project was founded by Mother Ruth M. Weh in 2021. Our overseer was inspired by the grace of God. Throughout her upbringing, she encountered various hardships and fought to survive social and financial difficulties. Said hardships prevented her from completing her education and forced her to become a street seller (she would place her market on her head and move from one community to another in hopes of raising $1-2 in a day). Despite this, she took solace in knowing that the money she made ensured her sibling's education. As an adult, Mother Ruth recognizes the importance of education and believes that your background or financial struggles shouldn’t deprive you of such opportunities. Our founder’s goal is to help underprivileged children to get better education, enabling them to procure a brighter future. She began this journey by building a church by the grace of God and through the favor of God, her dreams, and aspirations to assist those hungry for knowledge was realized. The Chosen Hand from God Healing Ministry gave rise to CHSS (Chosen Hand From God School System). Today, the Chosen Hand from God Healing Ministry has opened the doors to under privilege children from different families. Our goal is to work with communities to execute the following: Reduce the growing number of students dropping out of primary education. Increase equality for the students within vulnerable groups. Highlight and promote greater achievements amongst students with special educational needs. Promote a healthy and safe learning space for all students. Demolish gender and economical stereotypes faced by students and or faculty.
Our mission is to serve low-income families in the Monrovia area by fostering a nurturing environment where children can achieve academic excellence, develop their character, and unlock their potential.
CHOSEN HAND FROM GOD HEALING MINISTRY & SCHOOL SYTEM (CHHMS) seeks to work with donors, and the Ministry of Education (MOE) to address access to education and the quality of instruction. Our educational programs focus on improving the quality of teaching and learning and increasing equitable access to safe learning opportunities for disadvantage youth, this includes students with disabilities, girls, and out-of-school youth.
The education sector in Liberia faces a complex set of challenges related to rebuilding and recovery from civil war, constrained national finances, poor infrastructures, and the Ebola epidemic. These challenges include poor learning outcomes, overage enrollment, and huge number of out-of-school children. Government’s resources are wasted because of ‘ghost’ teachers and, or unqualified teachers. Among the many educational challenges, girls in Liberia face traditional Liberian stereotypes that impact their educational potential Parents from many of the rural communities need guidance regarding the education of disavantage youth.
